Caribbean North America United Kingdom Funding ApprenticeshipsCaribbean
The Caribbean is made up of many countries therefore it is hard to give you the run down for every university’s tuition fees. Nonetheless we have provided the tuition fees for the University of the West Indies:
- University of the West Indies – Cave Hill Campus [Barbados]
- University of the West Indies – Mona Campus [Jamaica]
- University of the West Indies – St. Augustine [Trinidad and Tobago]
- University of the West Indies – Open Campus [Turks and Caicos & others]
Remember tuition fees are not the only costs involved. Accommodation and everyday spending is essential.
The Turks and Caicos Community College is available for further and higher education at a cost of around $2000 a year or more.

North America
In North America (Canada and USA), tuition fees are based on the university you are applying to. Unless you are also a citizen of these countries, you will have to pay international fees.
Contact your prospective university for information on fees or research on their website.
As mentioned earlier, international scholarships can be granted by the Government. As international students’ tuition can be expensive, it is worth making an effort to apply for the scholarship than to cheat yourself out of an opportunity.
Besides this mode of supportive funding, many colleges/universities offer scholarships catered to their students.

United Kingdom
Depending on your type of study [further or higher education], fees will differ for you.
If you are pursuing further education which includes A-Levels, BTEC etc. this is completely free. For higher education, undergraduate fees for home students are £9250 (approximately $12000 USD), international students between £9000-£20,000+ [£12000 on average]. Fees for postgraduate are dependent on the course and university of choice.

Funding
Student Finance – UK
In the UK, Student Finance is available to students who are British Citizens [read about immigration status here]. Post application of Student Finance, you would need provide evidence of British Citizenship and declare whether you have been present in the UK for the 3 years prior to your first year of study.
If you have not been present you will need to prove your absence from the country was on a temporary basis.
Student Finance provides different types loans including, Tuition Loan and maintenance Loan.
Pros: You only start paying it back once you’re making over £25k a year; 30 years post receiving the loan if not fully paid it is written off; The loan does not affect your debt
Cons: You may be in your 50s/60s before the loan is written off; Interest is incurred; Money received may decrease every academic year
Scholarships and Bursaries
Turks and Caicos Islands Government – Domestic & International
The Turks and Caicos Government offers scholarships to students every year. There is also an option to apply for grants or partial funding. Read more here.

University Scholarships and Grants/Bursaries
Some universities have their own funding they provide to students.
A bursary is a grant awarded to a student by their university or college.
Many universities or colleges offer these for different reasons which you may fall under Eg.) Disability Allowance.
If you meet certain economic requirements some universities automatically grant you a bursary, given you have applied for funding like Student Finance. Contact your prospective university for scholarships and bursaries available.

Apprenticeships
If you are taking part in an apprenticeship you should be paid. However the pay is not necessarily all rainbows. Therefore if needed, you can seek means of further funding if located in a country away from home. This could look like receiving ‘benefits’ in the UK or welfare elsewhere.
